Of course, you should substitute @ for AT (no spaces). We’ve only put it like that to stop our email address being harvested by web-bots used to serve us with even more spam.

This is also our PayPal address should you wish to send us money. (We also accept sterling cheques, credit and debit cards, cash, and — selectively — promises of undying love and affection.)

Magick also publishes PrestiDigital, the world’s first (only?) multimedia magic magazine on DVD. Find out more here:

We are proud to be one of the sadly rapidly-shrinking number of real, bricks-and-mortar magic shops in the UK. We’re open daily from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm, closed on Thursdays and Sundays. On Saturdays there’s an impromptu session for most of the day. Call in and see us.

That just about covers the basics. Email me if you want any more information.

    Hi Russell,

Further to our conversation, this is my e-mail address and the link to my website (Beta version):

    http://www.wix.com/Bzmagic/BzMagic

I’ll need every interested magician to send me an email including their contact details, how long they’ve been doing magic, and their inspirations; what magic they can do and their eventual specialities; how much they charge for a show (with a brief description of the different shows they can propose); If they can do public/magician lectures, or would like to do some. AND if they’re interested in getting involved in creating a public magic festival in Sheffield.

The targeted time would be in December, a kind of Sheffield Magic Christmas week, but we might be a bit short of time, 3 months is not that much! On the other hand, this festival would appear out of nowhere and have a massive impact on the public.

The idea is to bring some magic to Sheffield event life. And also to create a need and promote our art in Sheffield. Over a week, there would be magic in the streets, restaurants, shops, parks, bars, night clubs, at differents times in several places. Every day could be a different theme.

Threre will also be themed nights where the evening starts at a place and finishes somewhere else, and this every day and throughout the day, breakfast included, for a week.

The idea is also to help new businesses or failing ones to promote themselves, and also to work along with the City Council, Yorkshire House and some events companies to promote certain areas like Leopold Square, West One, Fargate, Winter Garden and others.

Depending on the financial forecast, and fundings I will try to get, we could invite/hire other fellow magicians from other cities, and possibly manage to get a stage show with a few big names. Raising money for charities could be an option too. There could be some nice money to make for all of us as well.

I’m working on putting it all up together at the minute, so to organise what will be needed in terms of performances. Suggestions are more than welcome.

That’s about it, I think. That’s just an idea for now, but we can make it happen.

    Talk to you soon.

    Ben.

    Dear Russell,

I was wondering if you still carried a large selection of used books and magazines. If so, could you please email your listing.

I am specifically looking for a copy of the 1973 Vol. 36 # 3 but would be more than happy to have a look over your used book list to see what other treasure may be available.

Thank you and I will look forward to your reply.

    Gregory Bracco

    1. magickwords Says:

  4. Gregory Bracco Says:

  11. i need some ideas for a blog. i already do poems and surveys on it but i wanna talk about something..

    1. magickwords Says:

Well Alison, you could begin by talking about why you feel the need to write poems and do surveys. Or you could list your favourite poets and surveyors. Or you could look at your life and the lives of those around you and decide what they contain of interest to others. (Or course, if they contain nothing of interest perhaps you should think twice about writing poetry and stick to surveys.)

Hope this helps. There’s a great big exciting world out there full of somethings to talk about.

  12. Android Apps Says:

Fantastic goods from you, man. About Magick Magick Words I’ve understand your stuff previous to and you are just too great. I actually like what you have acquired here, really like what you’re stating and the way in which you say it. You make it entertaining and you still take care of to keep it sensible. I can’t wait to read far more from you. This is really a tremendous About Magick Magick Words informations.

    1. magickwords Says:

Too great? Hmm. Do you think I should rein in my clearly awe-inspiring charisma? I would hate for my ordinary readers to feel overwhelmed by my sensible entertainment. I would prefer them to think of me as an ordinary — even very slightly flawed — human being who is just doing his best to make his way through this troubled world while dispensing what joy he can to those less well blessed. After all we should all remember that good looks, charm and intelligence are mere accidents of birth for which we should take no great credit.

  13. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.

    1. magickwords Says:

I know. My continuing lack of world-wide popularity continues to baffle myself and two close friends in Sheffield.

  14. Any news about A defector’s unexplainable disappearance?

  15. I’m a teenage boy and I couldn’t figure out a way to make money. Some people said by blogging you can make money but they weren’t specidic about it. Please help me out and please tell me some ways to make money..

    1. magickwords Says:

      Hi

I’m sure there are many people who make money from blogging. I am, however, a magic dealer and therefore the very last person you should ask about making money.

  16. a776950 Says:

I’ve said that least 776950 times. The problem this like that is they are just too compilcated for the average bird, if you know what I mean

    1. magickwords Says:

I sympathise. Research indicates that crows can count up to three, whereas parrots can manages up to six and cormorants up to eight. Scientists speculate that this is why cuckoos frequently remove an egg from a nest before laying their own. I would surmise that 776950 is certainly beyond any bird. In fact I would go as far as to say that the ability to count to or even conceive of such a number would have little evolutionary advantage for your average bird.

As this blog is aimed primarily at magicians I did try to discover where doves fitted in on the avian numeracy scale but have so far drawn a blank. I tend to think that they’re not particularly bright as they appear to put up with being produced from silk hankies any number of times without complaint. You wouldn’t see a crow or a cormorant putting up with that for very long, I can tell you.

  21. James Barker Says:

    Hi Russell,
Very interesting blog. Good to see magic(k) alive and well in South Yorkshire. I wish I’d known about your shop a few years ago when I had the magic bug.
I was wondering if you buy second hand magic props? I have a few bits (mainly close-up) that need a new home. I could pop in with them if you’re interested.
    Regards,
    James

    1. magickwords Says:

      Hi James

Glad you enjoy the blog. Always difficult to comment about second-hand prop purchase without seeing the items in question. (We tend to sell more books and DVDs these days.) But do call in if you’re passing and I’d be happy to make you an offer you can refuse!

      Best wishes

      Russell

      1. James Barker Says:

        Thanks for your reply, Russell.
I do actually have a few books as well. Some of them are definately aimed more at the beginner/younger reader, but a few of them cover slightly more advanced topics. Would it be worth me popping in with them?
        Thanks,
        James

  22. I also believe so, perfectly composed post!

    1. magickwords Says:

Thanks. Although modesty forces me to point out that there are occasions, rare though they may be, when my compositions falls a point or two short of perfection. But I commend your excellent taste nonetheless.

Your home is valueble for me. Thanks!…

  24. love this Says:

Hey sweetie from a young womanfan contunue the fab posts

    1. magickwords Says:

You’re too kind, although I would have thought that a magic blog would come fairly low down on the fab scale. Unless of course it’s my photograph which you find irresistible. (Non-smoker, gsoh… further details on request, sweetie.)

  25. Elsa Voter Says:

American Aspiration pizza in Portland, OR is quite superior and they deliver.

    1. magickwords Says:

Possibly. But their delivery charges to Sheffield seemed rather high and they couldn’t guarantee to get them here hot and on time for Saturday Sessions lunch. How short sighted. (And no mushy peas!)

    1. magickwords Says:

Thank you. You are clearly a person of considerable perspicacity; I’ll be sure to contact you should I wish to take up my modelling career again. But I would remind the fashion world that I don’t do cardigans and I no longer get out of bed for less than £25 plus expenses and a hot meal.

  26. This design is steller! You obviously know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

    1. magickwords Says:

As you can probably see if you check the blog, we only deal with real magic; not the imaginary kind.
