Paul contemplates his fee for his Sheffield lecture.
Paul Hallas will be lecturing at The Lounge on Thursday the 7 March. Paul blends magic and mentalism and the lecture is sure to have something for everyone. Here’s a comment from Marc DeSouza:
Paul Hallas’ lecture is a wonderful blend of magic and mentalism for the close-up and stand-up magician. There are no pipe dreams here; the material has been taken from Paul’s own working repertoire. You will learn strong commercial magic for the working performer… magic you can and will use. On top of that is Paul’s engaging personality and clear teaching style. All in all, a great evening of magical education and entertainment.
And if that doesn’t persuade you to get yourself down here, here’s what Harry Murphy said on the Magic Café following Paul’s lecture at the Funarama Magic Convention in Maryland, USA:
Then there was my favorite lecture. It was given late at night by the Café’s own Paul Hallas. Paul has relocated to the USA from the UK and essentially starting over as a performer. His lecture was full of killer, commercial, and useful stuff. I have never seen Mr Hallas perform before and really liked his laid back and seemingly leisurely performance style. I strongly believe that Mr Hallas would enhance any club’s function and any convention’s program. His lecture and stage performance are top shelf!
Doors open at 7:03 for a 7:30 p.m. start. Admission is free to Sheffield Circle members and £10 for guests and visiting magicians.

A good convention in Blackpool with lots of interest in our new products (and quite a few sales too). More information later, but in the meantime, for all those who’ve been asking for ‘designer decks’ here’s a selection from the range we currently have in stock.
And for professional magicians, we sell proper Bicycle cards too.

It’s that time of year again!
A few weeks ago we were all making our New Year magical resolutions… to finish work on the new act… to read those books we bought in a fit of misplaced enthusiasm and are still sitting on the shelf, pristine and unopened… to learn those new tricks which looked great on the pretty packet or the blurry, effects-laden video…
We’ve all been there. But now it’s February and the cold, damp weather has brought with it a dose of cold, damp reality. Let’s face it, you’re not going to use half of that stuff you’ve bought, and if you hang on to them that nagging guilt feeling will only grow.
But salvation is just days away! Parcel them up and bring them down to the Sheffield Circle Annual Magic Auction Night here at the Lounge on Thursday 7 February. You’ll feel better for it.
And don’t forget to bring your wallet so you can snap up some bargains. This looks like being a bumper night as the lots will include a substantial collection of effects and props from late ex-SCM President Peter Hillam.
Doors open at 7:00. And I’ll be waving my gavel promptly from 7:30 onwards. If you’re bringing items for auction I strongly suggest that you make a list, preferably two copies; it makes the Treasurer’s job much easier. Ten percent of the proceeds go to Circle funds.
Admission is free to SCM members. Visiting magicians £3.
