Entertainer and creator, Vincent Hedan developed his own style, creating shows with his original illusions, and performing his magic everywhere in France since 2000. Being fluent in English, he also performed in America, Australia, Belgium, Canada, England, Italy, Luxembourg and South Korea. A member of 4F since 2011, he won the 1st Prize in Mentalism at the 2008 French Magic Championship.

The first half of this two-hour lecture is about card magic, illustrated by various effects: easy to do, with big impact and maximum involvement of the audience.

The second half puts cards aside and focuses on effects that can be performed either as close-up or stage magic. With original, simple and direct methods, Vincent presents unusual effects. Wine tasting, pseudo memory, and his ultimate Babel book test.

“Vincent creates devilishly clever contemporary material that will fool and entertain even the most cynical audience member. With a keen sense of narrative, premise and plot his material is always intriguing, mysterious and magical. His methods are elegant, sophisticated and multilayered. I believe Vincent will ascend to the very highest levels within magic. Watch, listen and learn all you can from a bright star of the future.” Luke Jermay

Following a proposal and vote at the recent Sheffield Circle AGM, the lecture will be £5 to SCM members and junior magicians and £10 to non members. It will begin at 7:30 pm on Wednesday 15 June (note change of date to suit Mr Hedan’s busy lecture schedule) at The Magic Lounge, 82 Broad Street, Sheffield, S2 5TG. Doors open at 7:00 pm with our usual judicious alacrity.

“Brilliant, clever and mind blowing! A very talented French magician. Stunning effects, original methods, killer mentalism…” Boris Wild FISM World Champion 1997

Shane Cobolt_IMG_6419Shane Cobalt is a card expert from Canada who has been heralded by the likes of Jim Steinmeyer, the Buck Twins, Eric Anderson & Chris Kenner. Having kept his magic underground for some years, he is only now beginning to reveal his skills and is already becoming known for his work on the SWE Shift, Zarrow Shuffle and Diagonal Palm Shift.

His clients have included some of the UK’s biggest brands, celebrities, high class London venues and many private parties and weddings.

Arron specialises in close-up, walk-around, mystery room and table magic. With his lightning fast wit, well-honed magical skills and wide-ranging practical, real-world experience, we’re sure that everyone will go home with something they can use, as well as having had an amazing night!

The lecture is free to Sheffield Circle members and £10 to non members. It will begin at 7:30 pm on Thursday 3 March at The Magic Lounge, 82 Broad Street, Sheffield, S2 5TG. Doors open at 7:00 pm fairly promptly.

For the Sheffield Circle March meeting Steve Gore will be presenting his lecture which has received excellent reviews at the IBM British Ring Convention, the British Magical Society, and even the Blackpool Magicians Club. It will include lots of his original effects, including ‘Trick Photography’, which MagicWeek called “Close-up Trick of the Year” and ‘Visions from Vegas’, which is an ingenious mental effect using a new method in magic. Watch it below:

It won’t be all close-up though, there are effects for stage, stand-up and kids too, so there’s something for everyone. The majority of his effects are also easy to master, allowing you to focus on the presentation or to run through your ready repertoire of one-liners. Here’s what others have said:

“The moment I walked in the room there was a sense of “This is a man who takes what he does seriously, and wants to give of his best” — Keith Wells, Leicester Magic Circle.

“One of the best lectures I have seen at the Guild and I joined in 1989! — John Scott, Nottingham Guild of Magicians.

“A good crowd was assembled for what turned out to be an afternoon full of original ideas, lateral magical thinking and, on occasions, the clever blending of known effects to create a whole new impact. — Brian Lead, Modern Mystic League

“It was professional in every respect from dress to the presentation of the effects whether they be close-up, stage or children’s magic.” — Liz Warlock, British Magical Society

“Your presentation for the York Society last night was excellent with a capital ‘E’. It was one of the most professional presentations I have seen in recent times. I thought your explanations were clear and concise, as was demonstrated by the very few questions asked with each illusion.” — Austin Siviter, YSM

A nice touch is that everyone who attends Steve’s lecture will receive a free PDF copy of his lecture notes.

I’m sure that this will be another not-to-be-missed lecture. The date is Thursday 6 March. Doors open at 7:02 p.m. and we start at 7:30. The venue is, of course, The Magick Lounge, 82 Broad Street, Sheffield, S2 5TG. Cost is free to members in good standing of the Sheffield Circle of Magicians, £10 for visitors. See you there.
